Chris Clucas who is one the most well known names in the business of transporting liquefied gas by sea has been appointed to the main board at Witherby Publishing Group as a non-executive director.
Chris has worked within the Bernard Schulte Group since 1990, where he is Commercial Director at their Shipmanagement office on the Isle of Man. Other appointments that Chris currently holds include Co-Chair of the GasTech conference, which will be in London from 8-11 October 2012 and Chairman of SIGTTO’s General Purposes Committee.
Chris joined the International Chamber of Shipping in 1973 after completing a degree in chemistry and was involved with the work of ICS and IMO in preparing the Tanker Safety Guide (Liquefied Gas) and the International Gas Code (IGC).
After working ashore during the 1970s at an oil and petrochemical storage terminal, he completed an MSc Degree in Cryogenic Engineering in 1979 and worked on LNG plant design with British Gas.
He subsequently moved to Kosan as Gas Superintendent with the LPG/NH3 fleet in Denmark, before joining Dorchester Maritime (part of the Bernard Schulte Group) in 1990, specialising in gas carrier projects and newbuildings that included LPG, Ethylene & LNG.
